MEMORIAL PICNIC TABLE PROGRAM
Memorial Picnic Tables have become an increasingly popular way to remember and pay tribute to a loved one. Our community includes people of all ages that utilize our facilities. They will all enjoy and respect the contribution you have made to provide a wonderful asset to the community.

The Memorial Picnic Table Program will allow an individual to place a memorial table in a designated area (e.g. park and open space) within the Town of Surf City. The table may be a new addition or replacement of an existing table.

Once installed, the family of the honoree will be sent a card acknowledging their family member has been memorialized or honored through this program.

These tables are made of recycled plastic that is durable. The table is subjected to weathering therefore it is guaranteed for 10 years. After 10 years, or when deemed necessary for replacement, the family of the honoree will have the opportunity to replace the bench by contributing another donation in honor of the honoree.

HOW IT WORKS
The applicant submits a completed application.

Location and plaque final approval will be made by Parks and Recreation Director.

Upon approval, the applicant will remit the donation made payable to the Town of Surf City.

After the donation is received, the Table will be ordered and an estimated time of delivery and installation will be provided.

The Town of Surf City is responsible for the installation. Once the table is installed we will communicate with the contact person to confirm the Memorial table was installed. A card will be sent to the honoree or the honoree’s family acknowledging the donation.

MEMORIAL TERMS
Plaque: The program is designed to pay tribute to a living or deceased person and is not intended for advertising. A business may be mentioned as the donor. However, businesses that conflict with the departments’ mission may be denied.

10-Year Guarantee: The life of the table will vary based on location, exposure to the elements, and level of use. However, they are guaranteed for 10 years. The department will make its best effort to notify the donor that the term of the agreement is up for renewal. The original donor has the opportunity to renew the agreement by submitting an additional donation.

Term Agreement: If the agreement is not renewed prior to the expiration of the term, staff may remove the plaque and the bench location will once again be available for a new Memorial table agreement.

Memorial Tables: The tables remain the property of the Town of Surf City.

Location: Major park renovations may alter the exact location of the table during its term. However, the table will remain within the original park site until the end of the Memorial Table Program term.
